The Anthemis
Hacking Finance Retreat

The Anthemis Hacking Finance Retreat (#AHFR) gathers our ecosystem of entrepreneurs, executives, academics and regulators engaged in the reinvention of the financial services industry.

Held annually in Méribel, France, #AHFR brings together smart, dynamic people who are building interesting products, services and technologies in an inspiring setting where they can step back from their hectic lives to connect with likeminded individuals.

In honor of #AHFR’s 5-year anniversary, we will be sharing a steady stream of content inspired by the conversations held this year in Méribel with attendees, #AHFR alumni, and anyone who shares our mission to advance the innovation agenda within financial services.

The Anthemis
Hacking Finance Retreat

The Anthemis Hacking Finance Retreat (#AHFR) gathers our ecosystem of entrepreneurs, executives, academics and regulators engaged in the reinvention of the financial services industry. Held in Meribel, France, #AHFR brings together smart, dynamic people who are building interesting products, services and technologies in an inspiring setting where they can step back from their hectic lives to connect with like-minded individuals who are at the vanguard of changing the way financial services are designed, built and consumed. We create an environment for inspirational interactions and encourage relationship building, carefully curating the participants and identifying potential vectors for collaboration and sharing. Our workshops address topical issues faced by financial services startups and executives, from dealing with regulation to cracking customer acquisition, from innovative design to the adoption of new technologies.

In honor of #AHFR’s 5-year anniversary, we will be sharing a steady stream of content inspired by the conversations held this year in Meribel with attendees, #AHFR alumni, and anyone who shares our mission to advance the innovation agenda within financial services. We encourage you to sign up for more information on #AHFR 2016 as well as notifications on related programs, like our London-based Hacking Finance Breakfast Series, launching soon in New York City.

You can also follow, and participate, in the Hacking Finance conversation by reading and submitting posts to our new publication of the same name on Medium.

“We have a very deeply-held belief at Anthemis that colors everything we do: there is strength in diversity and heterogeneity. Interesting things happen at the intersection of different ideas and different backgrounds.”

Sean Park

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

#AHFR Through the Years

2015

In four short years, #AHFR became a “second home” for our ecosystem: “It feels like a family reunion.” More than 100 participants from around the world got away from their day jobs and devices to participate.

2014

Anthemis’ third annual retreat was a “culmination of old hackers and new ones,” but the connections were, unsurprisingly, “instantaneous and spontaneous.”

2013

The second #AHFR featured twice as many attendees, including outside startups, incumbents and academics, united by “the will to change things that need to be changed,” and the understanding that “you can’t do it in the office.”

2012

Inspired by his childhood growing up in the mountains of Alberta, Canada, Sean Park hosts the first Anthemis Hacking Finance Retreat: “There is nothing that replaces human connection.”

Hacking Finance
Breakfast Series

The Anthemis Hacking Finance Breakfast series operates in the same spirit as our retreat: pick a forward-thinking topic and bring the greatest minds in our industry together to connect with one another and talk about it. From regulation, to diversity, to product design, and everything in between, these monthly get-togethers tackle single issues in deep and meaningful ways. Our recap of 2015’s breakfasts is a good starting point to learn more about the program and the type of attendees who participate.
