From Fund I to Fund VII: Why We Keep Showing Up for Seedcamp

Seedcamp has announced $320 million in new capital: $220 million for Fund VII, its flagship first-check fund, and $100 million for a Select fund to continue backing its highest-conviction companies through Series B and beyond.

It’s an important milestone for one of Europe’s most enduring venture firms. But the number isn’t what stands out to us. What matters is the journey from Fund I to Fund VII.

Anthemis has partnered with Seedcamp from the very beginning, investing in every fund from Seedcamp I through to Seedcamp VII. Over nearly two decades, we’ve continued to back Reshma Sohoni and the Seedcamp team as they have built one of Europe’s most enduring venture platforms. Long before companies like Wise, Revolut and UiPath became household names, Reshma had a clear vision for what Europe needed: a founder-first platform with the ambition to back exceptional entrepreneurs from day one.

That distinction matters.

Early-stage investing is, at its core, an act of belief. Whether you’re backing a founder with their first cheque or an emerging fund manager with their first fund, you’re doing more than providing capital. You’re giving an early vote of confidence that can help turn potential into momentum. That’s venture at its best: recognising exceptional people, ideas and platforms early and backing them with the conviction to help realise their ambition.

It’s a philosophy that has shaped how we invest at Anthemis more broadly. Across first-time founders, emerging managers and overlooked opportunities, we’ve sought to support those with the potential to shape what’s next, often before the wider market catches on. The Anthemis Female Innovators Lab is one example of that approach: backing exceptional female founders and perspectives well ahead of the broader shift in attention they deserved.

For us, partnerships like Seedcamp aren’t defined by a single fundraise or headline number. They’re built over years of shared conviction, mutual trust and a shared commitment to supporting the next generation of ambitious founders.

So while Fund VII marks an exciting new chapter for Seedcamp, it’s also a reminder of something we think is fundamental to venture investing: long-term value is created by being an early catalyst, staying engaged and backing exceptional people and institutions before everyone else can see what they’ll become.

Congratulations to Reshma and the entire Seedcamp team on an incredible milestone. We’re proud to continue the journey together.
